Theme of Claremore Christmas Parade is “Candy Canes & Christmas Carols”
Will Rogers Boulevard will glow with thousands of lights and the smiles of area children when the annual Christmas Parade travels down the boulevard Saturday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m.
This family holiday tradition has been a part of the Claremore area history for well over 60 years. Special guest of course will be Santa Claus who will arrive from the North Pole just in time to join the parade.
This year’s theme is “Candy Canes & Christmas Carols.”
“The theme and the evening format offer a great opportunity for area groups to design lighted entries that best represent what this important holiday means to their group,” said Parade Chairman Larry Rahmeier.
Cash prizes will be awarded for Best Use of Theme, Lights and the Christmas Spirit Award.
“The Christmas Parade is the perfect reminder of the quality of life that we enjoy in our community,” Rahmeier said. “Participants always include a wide variety of entries including various drill teams, youth groups, churches, specialty units, classic cars, marching bands and more.”
Contact the Chamber of Commerce for entry forms at (918) 341-2818 or www.claremore.org
“Of course this event for the community would not be possible without the support of our sponsors. ‘Present’ing sponsor is Claremore Physicians Immediate Care, Star Sponsor is RCB Bank and our Ribbon sponsor is First Baptist Church,” Rahmeier said. “We appreciate their support for this event. We would also like to recognize the many departments of the city of Claremore for their assistance with logistics and the Claremore Police, Fire and Parks Departments and the Rogers County Sheriff’s Department for all their assistance with traffic control ensuring a safe route for attendees and participants.”
The parade will travel from the Expo Center east on Will Rogers Boulevard and end at the Gazebo downtown. In case of inclement weather, the parade will be moved to Thursday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m.
