The Claremore High School marching band will perform its ninth annual Zebra Band Light Show following the “Senior Night” football game Friday at Lantow Field.
Senior band members, cheerleaders, dance team members and football players will be introduced at 6:30 p.m., and the Zebras will take on Coweta at 7 p.m. Immediately following the game, the band will perform the glowing light show.
“This is truly the band’s favorite night to play for the community,” said Debbie Gunkel, Claremore Band Boosters Association member.
With the help of Director Kevin Couch, students have refined the glow show, incorporating high tech LED technology and new uniform light placement. The effects are both fun and impressive, said Susan O’ Dell of CBBA.
“It’s like watching 65 light-up stick figures perform an entire band show. The music is full of energy, drawn from the crowd,” said O’ Dell.
Eighth-grade band students will perform “Smoke on the Water” and “The Zebra Fight Song” alongside the high school band at halftime. This combined performance offers a sneak peek into next year’s Pride of Claremore Marching Band, she said.
Following the game, attendees are reminded to keep their seats as the lights go out.
