CLAREMORE —

A Claremore juvenile was struck by a pickup truck around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday on North Florence Avenue near Hillcrest Hospital. According to police reports, the driver of the truck was driving the speed limit at the time of the accident.

The student was walking home from school and stepped off of a curb into traffic before being hit by the vehicle, said Patrol Captain Milburn Litterell.

The juvenile was transported to the hospital by his parents, where he is being treated for leg injuries. Litterell said the injuries do not appear to be too serious.

He said the Claremore Police Department would like to remind parents and students to be extra careful on roadways as school lets out. Drivers should also be mindful of posted speed limits within school zones.
