CLAREMORE —

The cause of a weekend fire that razed a Rogers County residence is still under investigation, according to local authorities.
The home at 9794 E. Highway 20 in west Claremore was a “total loss” following a fire on Sunday evening, according to Claremore Fire Chief Sean Douglas.
“Just after 10 p.m. Sunday, our units responded to a call on a house west of Southhaven Road, just off Highway 20,”   Douglas said. “The first officer, on the scene, reported the home to be fully engulfed (in flames), with smoke coming from the roof.”
Although mutual aid in fighting the fire came from the Verdigris Fire Department and Northwest Fire District, by the time the fire was extinguished, the home was unsalvageable, said Douglas.
“Fortunately, the home’s occupant — an elderly female — escaped without injury,” he said.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
