Students who may have started, but not yet completed their college degree, will have the opportunity to learn how they can earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Organizational Leadership in an accelerated, flexible manner.
An information session for Rogers State University’s Adult Degree Completion Program will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday in Herrington Hall, Room 173. The session is free and open to the public and informal in nature.
RSU representatives will be on hand to discuss how students can take full advantage of the program and complete their college degree.
The organizational leadership degree is offered online in a flexible, accelerated format, allowing more adults in northeast Oklahoma to earn a four-year degree.
“This is a second chance for adults to finish their degree while keeping their normal routines, maintaining regular work hours and still having time for their families,” said Dr. Bruce Garrison, dean of business and technology at RSU.
Classes toward the degree are offered in five convenient, eight week “mini-semesters” each year. Students may enroll in the program prior to each mini-semester.
Enrollment is now open for the next session of eight-week classes, which will start the week of Oct. 7.
Students are required to attend two classes on campus, including the foundations of organizational leadership and personal development, as well as, a capstone project to complete the program.
The remainder of the degree program may be completed online.
The degree is part of the Reach Higher program, a statewide initiative to increase the number of state residents who have earned bachelor’s degrees, coordinated by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, said Garrison.
“Our goal is to make this program as convenient and flexible as possible for working adults who have told us they don’t have time to return to college,” he said.
Curriculum consists of classes covering topics and skills important in today’s workforce, including organizational behavior, ethics, interpersonal skills, management, finance and communication, and also includes group projects and a senior capstone course.
The broad-based degree will prepare students for a wide variety of careers, such as education, government, corporate and non-profit environments.
