When people think of Inola, Oklahoma, there are certain things which spring to mind:
The Inola Longhorns.
Hay Capitol of the World.
Next week, the hills of Inola will come alive, or rather, come undead, during the “Zombie Bolt Tulsa — 5K Terror Run.”
On Oct. 19, Moore’s Flying M Ranch in Inola will host its premier 5K fundraiser “Zombie Bolt Tulsa,” an off-road 3.11 mile dash through the wooded hills of Inola.
But this run isn’t just for fun, it’s for survival.
“During the run, one’s goal is not only to make it to the finish line, but to keep one’s ‘life flags’ from being captured by the hundreds of ‘zombies’ lurking throughout the course,” said Moore’s Flying M Ranch Executive Director Debby Moore. The day of race, registration, costuming and make-up will begin at 4 p.m. on Oct. 19, with the race starting at 6 p.m. at Moore’s Flying M Ranch, 20707 East 540 Road in Inola.
Registration fees range from $15 to $25 a person, depending on if one registers to run as a human or be a zombie.
Members of the military may participate for free.
At the end of the race, runners and zombies will be treated to a festival that includes live music, DJ’s, local Oklahoma food trucks, bond fires and drinks provided by local brewers.
All runners and zombies will be given a “Fleshy Ear” prize for finishing the race, with race details to be stamped on the back.
A portion of the proceeds from this event go to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which aids American servicemen injured in the service of our country.
