Area under extreme heat advisory until tonight

OKLAHOMA CITY —

Almost all of Oklahoma is under a heat advisory and temperatures are forecast to reach up to 110 degrees in places.

The National Weather Service said Thursday that the advised area includes everywhere in Oklahoma except the Panhandle and the state's extreme southeast.

Forecasters say temperatures are expected to top out between 94 and 110 degrees. Heat index values are projected between 105 and 115 degrees in north-central Oklahoma.

Officials advise that the temperature extremes can bring about heat-related illness and anyone working outside should take precautions.

There is also a slight chance of severe weather in north and central Oklahoma on Thursday.
