Icy roads may have caused early morning fatality collision
Icy roads may have contributed to the death of an Owasso man early Thursday morning in Rogers County.
According to the report of OHP Trooper Russell Stripling, 24-year-old Clark VanPelt was eastbound in his 1992 Lexus on 106th Street North, east of 161st E. Ave. in Rogers County, shortly before 5 a.m.
VanPelt lost control of the vehicle, which departed the roadway to the left, went through a fence and struck a tree, partially ejecting VanPelt out of the driver side door, reports indicate.
He died at the scene from massive injuries.
Conditions at the time of the accident were reported as foggy, with ice on the road.
Stripling is with the Rogers County Detachment of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He was assisted in his investigation by Trooper Matthew Middleton and Russell Callicoat.
