Inclement weather has prompted changes to the weekly meeting schedule for the Rogers County Commissioners.
A special meeting is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Thursday morning at the Rogers County Courthouse.
The meeting scheduled for Monday was cancelled, because the courthouse was closed to the public. The Open Meetings Act requires the regularly scheduled meetings of the board be set prior to Dec. 15 of the preceding year.
If a regular meeting date is changed, 10 days notice must be provided to the public, according to the law.
The media was informed the board intended to meet Tuesday to hold the regular scheduled meeting. However, prior to the start of the meeting, Commissioner Dan DeLozier cancelled it in compliance with the Open Meetings Act.
He informed the public, in attendance, that a special meeting would be set for Thursday.
A special meeting requires 48 hours notice and Rogers County Clerk Robin Anderson sent out the agenda within 15 minutes of the announcement.
The board is prohibited from discussing new business at the special meeting.
The special meeting agenda includes the opening of three bids for a new front-wheel tractor, hydraulic excavator and a pre-engineered metal building.
Commissioner Kirt Thacker has requested the board discuss an agreement between the Board of County Commissioners of Rogers County and the Rogers County Industrial Development Authority, RCIDA, for a leased or shared employee.
If approved, the agreement could provide health and other benefits previously provided by the county to RCIDA employees.
The county currently provides benefits to employees of other county trust authorities, including the Rogers County Jail Trust and E911 Trust Authority.
Commissioner Mike Helm has requested the board amend the GIS Mapping project for District 2 and DeLozier is looking to revisit the current burn ban.
