While no audit information was addressed during a regular Rogers County Commissioners meeting Monday, plans for an upcoming public hearing were mentioned.
District 1 County Commissioner Dan DeLozier said the date has not been confirmed, however, a public meeting will take place sometime in the next week.
DeLozier did not provide information as to what exactly will be addressed in the meeting, but said it will be related to recent audit findings that reveal possible fraud.
The release of the 2011 and 2012 state audit of the Rogers County Commissioners office include segregation of duties regarding payroll, inadequate segregation of duties over the collections process by the county treasurer, inadequate county-wide controls, acceptance of bids that does not appear to comply with state statues, county property used for personal use, board approval not obtained for work on private property, public information officer paid from restricted highway funds, bid restricting, no verification of road construction materials documented and bid restricting with preference.
According to the report, more than $5.5 million of a Federal Emergency Management Agency project have been considered “items of interest.”
The items result from unrecorded transactions, mistated financial reports, misappropriation of funds and could result in noncompliance with state statutes and constitutional provisions, according to the audit’s report.
DeLozier said the information related to the FEMA funds was submitted by District 2, headed by commissioner Mike Helm, who has not responded to the auditors’ findings.
“In the public meeting, I want it to be acknowledged that reports from District 1 were found to be true with everything accounted for,” DeLozier said. Rogers County’s FY 2013 audit report is expected to be released later this month.
