Wildcats battle RCSO in annual softball scrimmage

CLAREMORE —

The Rogers County Sheriff’s Office scrimmaged the Claremore Wildcats Special Olympics softball team Tuesday evening at Walnut Park. The Wildcat’s three teams took turns competing against deputies as both sides shared some laughs and praises with each other.
The occasion concluded with high fives, handshakes and a $1,000 donation to the Wildcats team.
Sheriff Scott Walton said the private donor originally wanted to make a contribution to the sheriff’s office following a recent bust made by the department’s task force.
“Rather than making a donation to us, we asked if he would make it out to the Claremore Wildcats,” said Walton.
He said funds will be used at the discretion of the team.
The Wildcats will compete in the statewide Special Olympics slow-pitch softball tournament beginning Wednesday in Stillwater.
