CLAREMORE — A Claremore teen was taken to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition over the weekend, following a one-vehicle accident in eastern Rogers County.

Dalton Gene Rice, 19, of Claremore, was northbound on NS4230 between Claremore and Pryor in his 1996 Pontiac at 2:27 a.m. Sunday, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper  Andy Floyd.
For unknown reasons, Rice ran off the roadway and lost control of the vehicle, then went into a “broadslide” and struck a tree, according to the repors.
Rice was pinned in the car for about 30 minutes before being freed by Tri-District Fire Department using the jaws of life.
He was transported by Air Evac to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where he was admitted in critical condition with head, trunk, arm and leg injuries.
According to the report, it was uncertain whether Rice had been was using a seat belt.  The car was equipped with airbags, but they did not deploy.
