Deputies arrest man for indecent proposals toward children at Spencer Creek campsite

OOLOGAH —

Rogers County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Claremore man last week at Oologah Lake, following complaints from campers who reported the man was asking their children to take showers with him.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. July 1, deputies were dispatched to the Spencer Creek Park after a reporting person stated her 15-year-old son was asked by an older man to take a shower with him at one of the campsites, according to the arrest report.
The man, identified as 53-year-old Hugh Wilson of Claremore, was also spotted approaching a 7-year-old and an 11-year-old near a tree line.
According to deputies’ records, the victims stated they were walking together to the bathrooms when they noticed a rock land by their feet. They said the rock came from a dark area behind some trees where an older man asked them to come over to him. The children then ran and were pursued by the suspect.
In the report, the children stated they ran back to their campsite and told their mother.
Wilson is currently being held on a $115,000 bond on complaints of making lewd or indecent proposals/acts to a child and attempted kidnapping.
He is due in Rogers County court at 1:30 p.m. July 16.
