Power restored at water treatment center

CLAREMORE — Workers worked through Monday night to restore power at the Claremore Water Treament Plant after a transformer blew and prevent the city from treating and producing water.

Claremore residents were asked to conserve water until the repairs were made.

While the building was not damaged, several wires above and underground were burned and had to be ripped out and replaced, said Cassie Woods, the city’s communications director.

“We did not produce any water while the repairs were being made,” said Woods. “Electric crews worked all night, completing the repairs and the plant was back online just after midnight Tuesday.”

She said everything is working fine and the city’s towers are refilling quickly.
