CLAREMORE —

Rogers County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after he admitted to having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl.

The man was identified as 21-year-old Harley McFarland of Claremore.

Investigator David Book said McFarland admitted to having oral and sexual intercourse with the minor at Lauchbaugh Park on Cherokee Street.

Officials said the girl’s parents found text messages from McFarland on her cell phone and immediately called authorities.

“We had been tracking (McFarland) for about a week,” said Book. “I obtained his phone number and asked him to meet me for questioning.”

Book said McFarland chatted with a lot of girls on Facebook and through text.

Rogers County officials said other victims have now been asked to come forward. Names will remain anonymous.

McFarland is being held on a $75,000 bond for sodomy of victim under 16 years of age and first-degree rape.

Court date has been set for May 8.
