Catoosa police arrested a Claremore man Friday morning on a child neglect charge stemming from an incident at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Catoosa.
Catoosa Assistant Chief of Police John Blush said officers were contacted by Hard Rock Hotel and Casino staff shortly after 12:15 a.m. who reported a “four-year-old male child wandering around the parking garage.”
“Upon arrival, (Catoosa) officers located the child, but weren’t immediately able to locate his parents or where he came from, so the Department of Human Services was contacted, and a DHS worker was dispatched and took the child into protective custody,” Blush said. “About 45 minutes after this, the child’s father, Harley Walter Hayes of Claremore, made contact with casino security, telling them his ‘son was lost’.”
Catoosa police arrested Hayes and transported him to Rogers County Jail where he was arrested and booked on one count of child neglect.
Blush said DHS workers are still attempting to locate the child’s mother, Melissa Hayes, and are working with casino security to review video surveillance footage during their joint investigation.
