Parking lot focus of special meeting

CLAREMORE — The Rogers County Commissioners will host a special meeting Wednesday at 5:20 p.m. in the commissioners meeting room to discuss the completion of the courthouse parking lot.

The meeting was scheduled after the board voted 2 to 1 Monday to use asphalt instead of concrete to finish the project.

The board met Tuesday to discuss the next installment payment to Flintco, project managers for both the courthouse and E911 Center.

The board approved the payment Monday, but later discovered there was not enough money remaining in the courthouse bonds to make the $257,618 payment.

The action was corrected Tuesday during the emergency meeting and now the board will decide how to proceed.

Records show the balance of the bond account is approximately $161,000.

“The bond is exhausted, there is no money…” Helm said.

The Commissioners will decide which accounts to use to satisfy the payments to Flintco during the special meeting.

Commissioners Kirt Thacker said the board has been aware they were approaching the end of the bond account funding.

The courthouse maintenance and construction fund was budgeted to help pay for the parking lot project, according to Thacker.

The meeting is open to the public.
