The Robson Performing Arts Center in Claremore will be ringing in the holiday season with music this month with “Annie the Musical.”
Based on the Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie, “Annie the Musical” will be a production boasting more than 65 cast members from Claremore and the surrounding areas, and will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, and again at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16.
“This production has some gorgeous voices in it — it’s really going to be a great musical,” said Robson PAC executive director and musical director Ruby Quinn. “There are not only young people in it, but adults, with some gorgeous voices from people like Ruiel Doonkeen, Claremore High School’s own choir teacher.
“I can’t wait for everyone to see this show — it’s really going to be something special for the whole family,” she said.
The original Broadway musical of Annie won Best Musical along with six other Tony awards, and Quinn said the locally-found talent rises to the occasion for this award-winning musical.
“We had auditions and found some truly amazing talent to play the orphans and Annie,” she said. “All of them have been giving their time since October to be a part of this show.”
