Sequoyah High School chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA) is joining forces with the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) to encourage community members to join them during the “Sharing Hope, Healing, and Comfort” blood drive.
Scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 in the South Annex of the Sequoyah High School, this blood drive comes at a time when many blood banks are running low and need to restock their on-hand supplies.
“Typically, the holiday season is a time when the need for blood rises,” according to BPA advisor Randy Hessley. “This is our second blood drive with OBI and we are hoping to bank a minimum of 125 units. We may be a smaller school district, but we have fantastic community support!” Hessley related.
Donors 16-year-old, must weigh at least 125 pounds and provide signed parental permission; 17-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds; 18+ year olds must weigh at least 110 pounds.
Persons donating blood will receive a limited edition long sleeve t-shirt and be eligible for door prize drawings being held throughout the day. In addition, donors will also receive health screenings and “Donor Reward Points” they can redeem at the Oklahoma Blood Institute’s online store.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, you can contact Randy Hessley at 918-923-4140 or OBI at 1-877-340-8777.
