Following Santa’s lead, Claremore students are traveling the world this Christmas.

Second grade students at Westside Elementary School are seeing their passports stamped all over the world as part of a Christmas ed-venture

The students are experiencing Christmas Around the World.

"We spend two days in each country," explained second grade teacher Sommer Sweet. "The first day we learn about the country and talk about interesting facts and how Christmas is celebrated there."

The second day is filled with food from that country and a craft project.

“Each student has a ‘suitcase’ they made that is filled with their crafts from each country,” Sweet said. “They also have an ‘important document’ folder where they keep their boarding passes, their passport and a map where they’re coloring in each country we learn about.”

Wednesday the students were celebrating with Saint Lucia crowns, rice pudding and Swedish meatballs for Christmas in Sweden.

The students will learn about Christmas in a total of five countries before celebrating Christmas themselves.
