The city of Claremore is soliciting bids for a sidewalk improvement grant.
Recently the council approved soliciting bids for the Community Development Blog Grant sidewalk improvement project.
Jill Ferenc, the city's Director of Planning and Development, said "We're planning for two years of CDBG grants for sidewalks in Claremore, including residential areas."
With this year's funding, she said, the bid will include a base bid amount for sidewalk improvements on 11th street between Missouri and Choctaw, in front of Claremore's School Administration Building and sidewalk improvements around the west side of that building on Muskogee.
The goal is to incorporate a pedestrian loop around that building, she said.
The bids will also include improvements around Seventh Street, to Choctaw.
Depending on bid amounts, she said, alternate add-ons include possible improvements on Florence and Tenth Street.
"We have income survey's for next year's funding so 11th street did qualify so we anticipate a brand new pedestrian connection from Highway 66 to Seminole," Ferenc said.
