Rogers County's Commissioners are hoping a $2 million grant will help line-up an industrial development.
During their meting this week the Board of County Commissioners agreed to sponsor a Community Development Block Grant request totaling $2 million that would go towards approximately 1,000-linear feet of water line improvements.
"We are competing for a big industrial project. We have signed a non-disclosure agreement so we can't say who the business is or what their product is but there have been meetings about the size of the facility and the employment opportunities," said Commissioner Ron Burrows.
He said the line would connect the proposed industrial facility to the sewage system and lagoon and would ultimately save the business some infrastructure costs.
"The grant, and the waterline project, could incentivize the company to do their business in Rogers County," Burrows said. "We've told them we're doing everything in our power to secure the grant funds."
An additional $1.5 million federal grant has been secured, he said, but is contingent upon the county securing this grant.
