Claremore Police Department was called in after the driver of a Mercedes crashed into a residence.
CPD records show Officer Propst was dispatched to a residence on Muskogee Avenue on reports of a vehicle having caused significant damage after crashing into an occupied residence.
On scene the officer learned the vehicle was driven by Thomas Howe, of Claremore.
"Howe had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and person, spoke with slurred speech, showed difficulty walking, swayed while standing and had red watery eyes," Propst reported. "Howe was too intoxicated to perform standard field sobriety tests safely."
The officer said Howe told him he had consumed approximately four or five beers about one hour before the crash, according to CPD records.
Howe allegedly told the officer he was driving home from someone's apartment, where he had been drinking but that he "didn't know how he crashed."
He was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol as an aggravated offense.
