Whatever the wellness journey, the first step can be found at GnuWellness.
Cynthia and Chip Paul came from a background in hospice and homecare, where helping people was their passion.
Now the two are bringing their passion to Claremore to help the community by providing a new wellness opportunity.
Cynthia Paul is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of GnuWellness while husband Chip Paul is co-founder and chief scientist.
Chip Paul said their GnuWellness journey started roughly two years ago.
“About two years ago we made what we think is a major scientific discovery about a human system and ways to influence that system. We set about doing thing backwards. We started trying to prove that first, then began to get our product out to doctors and validate what we were doing. That's a company called GnuPharma,” he said. “GnuWellness is the retail aspects to push and promote GnuPharma products but it's a little bit bigger idea than that--a health and wellness journey.”
He said, “We all have an endocannabinoid system. We use simple and benign herbs to influence this major regulatory system. Before we developed a brain, a circulatory system, a nervous system—we developed an endocannabinoid system and we've dragged that up the evolutionary ladder with us until it was discovered in 1994. It's only taught in about 20 medical schools.”
GnuPharma products, he said, nutritionally effect this system down to the cellular level.
Their five products are reflected in five wellness journey represented in their retail space.
“We've got foundation that builds strength, energy and wellness. That will build a good, solid foundation that will help you through the rest of the store. Then maybe a fitness journey is something you're after. So that section of the store will carry a lot of our Gaiam products because we are Gaiam distributors. Yoga tapes, massagers, yoga pads—all of that. Along with health waters and nice healthy recipes. We have a chef coming in that cooks for your endocannabinoid system,” she said.
Their Relaxation product is the cornerstone of the next journey represented in the space.
Meditative products, like herbal masks, are found here.
Next to that is the pain relief journey, she said, as the two compliment each other well.
The fifth journey, she said, is quitting smoking.
The products—Relief, Foundation, Fitness, Allergies, Relax—all come in capsule or essential oil form.
“Every customer is different so there are different deliveries. Our capsule based products take a little longer to work but last longer—those are comparable to our herbal teas. Some people trouble swallowing capsules so they can drink it in our herbal teas with a cold water extraction,” she said. “We've got essential oils. Your lungs, when you exhale things, it crosses your blood—brain barrier quicker and delivers nutrients quicker. We've got the essential oil for diffusers. Then we have inhalable aromatherapy people can use in a vape device.”
She said respiratory therapists use vaping in hospitals every day.
“Albuterol and nebulizing treatments—those are vaping. The only difference is they use a mask and we use personal handheld aromatherapy devices,” she said.
They said GnuPharma products are nutritional, created by strategically stacked herbs, to target specific nutritional needs.
“And it’s all made in Oklahoma. Every part of it. The label, the capsules, everything is done in Owasso in an FDA regulated manufacturing so we're compliant.
