The Claremore Regional Airport is receiving a much-needed repair soon now that grant funds are in place.

This week Claremore City Council awarded the airport runway and taxiway project to APAC-Central Inc.

Claremore Regional Airport's Eric Winn said a total of three bids were received and that the price tag on the project comes in at $2,280,266.05.

Winn said they will do a complete rehabilitation

of the runway and a crack-

fill and re-seal of the taxiway.

"The City of Claremore is responsible for five percent of this grant match, which is $120,232.75. The Oklahoma Aeronotics Commission chips in a five percent share and the Federal Aviation Administration does the other 90 percent," Winn said.

Claremore City Manager Jim Thomas said the city budgeted for their portion of the bill.

When asked how long it had been since a rehabilitation project has been done at the airport, Winn said, "We did a crack fill and re-seal on the runway in 2009 and that was about a five year band-aid."

Once work is underway Winn believes it will take 72 calendar days to complete the project.
