Who doesn’t want chocolate — and lots of it?

Chocolate lovers can get their fill while supporting Rogers County United Way at the 11th Annual Chocolate Affair.

Undoubtedly the sweetest event in the area, the Chocolate Affair will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 at the Claremore Community Center, 2301 N. Sioux.

Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased at the door or from any Rogers County United Way agency. The ticket is exchanged at the door for five individual tickets good for scrumptious samples at the vendors’ tables.

A familiar face at the Chocolate Affair is Bill Biard and Hammett House Restaurant. He’s been involved with the event since its inception.

When asked what special plans he had in store for this year, he would only say that he is still in the formation stage of his planning.

However, he did let a couple of things slip. First, among the things he will be serving will include exotic truffles, including spicy chocolate truffles and a spicy hot chocolate drink.

He also mentioned his secret weapon for the event: his son, Chris, who will be helping him with this event. Chris is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, New York and Napa Valley, California.

“I think it’s important to be a good community neighbor and support the Rogers County United Way and the agencies they fund. I’m proud that Hammett House can do its part,” said Bill Biard, owner of Hammett House.

Joining Bill and Chris in providing mouth watering treats at the Chocolate Affair will be Black Jaxx, Chili’s, Golden Corral, J and J Pharmacy, Molly’s Landing, Peppers Grill, Pink House, Rib Crib and Stone Mountain Bistro.

In addition to filling up on chocolate, the event will include a silent auction on more than 50 baskets and other gift items. Door prizes will also be awarded throughout the evening.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the 26 agency programs funded by Rogers County United Way.

To purchase a ticket to the Chocolate Affair, contact any Rogers County United Way agency, Claremore Regional Hospital Gift Shop, Gloria Hewling at 341-7588 or Mendy Stone at 343-2530.
