Three names already familiar to the Claremore Public School system were selected yesterday afternoon to fill administrative positions.
Claremore Board of Education members unanimously approved the appointment of Kathy Johnson, Julie Geiger, and Paul Fowler as directors of Federal Programs, Special Services, and Operations, respectively.
“With so many people to hire or replace this year, we’re trying to keep the integrity of leadership in place at our schools,” said Michael McClaren, superintendent. “For that reason, Mrs. Johnson will remain principal at Claremont (Elementary School) while serving as Federal Programs director, and Julie Geiger will continue to have an active influence at Project CEEP, where she was director.”
Fowler, who had taught science and coached at Claremore High School, will move into Director of Operations in a full-time capacity, but McClaren noted he could be tapped to coach in the spring season.
The next administrative appointment under consideration by the board is that of principal of the high school, following the departure of CHS Principal Roger Crutchfield.
Previous Special Services Director Rick Bishop resigned earlier this month, and Director of Curriculum/Federal Programs Lynelle Burrows resigned in June to oversee a new teacher program with Tulsa Public Schools.
Previous Director of Operations, Jim Palmer, resigned in May 2006, after being hired as superintendent for Vinita Public Schools.
