Statement issued by J.M. Davis Memorial Commission regarding state auditor’s report:

The J.M. Davis Memorial Commission has received and carefully reviewed the audit recently completed by the Office of the State Auditor Inspector of Oklahoma. The Commission is appreciative of the time and effort expended by the Auditor, Jeff McMahan and his staff, as well as the Claremore Police Department, Rogers County Sheriff’s Office, Rogers County District Attorney’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the J.M. Davis Foundation members as well as other volunteers in helping create the audit.

The Commission views the concerns set out in the audit as valid criticisms and at this time is in the process of implementing all the recommendations, suggested in the audit, as well as amending other policies of the Commission relating to those suggested recommendations.

Several of the items addressed in the audit have been turned over to local authorities for further investigation, and the Commission has contacted those authorities offering all cooperation which may be necessary.

The Commission wants to assure the community and the general public that it will as expeditiously as possible implement all the recommendations contained in the State Auditor’s report and strive to improve what is already a great asset and tourist attraction for the City of Claremore and the State of Oklahoma.
