CHELSEA —A mother and two children escaped an early morning fire that destroyed their mobile home in Chelsea today.

According to Chelsea Police Capt. Jeff Rinehart, the fire began sometime shortly after 7 a.m. at 1030 Pine, Lot 14.

The family (names not released) were sleeping at the time the fire began.

Capt. Rinehart said the oldest child woke his mother, alerting her that there was smoke inside the home. The mother immediately grabbed the baby and all three members of the family escaped unharmed.

The cause of the fire had not been determined as of press time Tuesday. Chelsea officials called the fire marshal to investigate.
