Share the Spirit sends kids to camp

It’s that time of year again. Share the Spirit Foundation is raising $6800 to send 40 Rogers County kids to summer camp at Heart O’ Hills Salvation Army Camp in Tahlequah, June 26 through July 1. Nutrition class offered

The Rogers County Health Department will hold a free nutrition class June 29 and July 6, from 6-8 p.m., at its offices, 2664 N. Highway 88. Participants will receive information on the importance of healthy eating and an active lifestyle. The interactive class will also include activities and snacks. Concert planned

Fidelity Coffee Shop on the corner of Cherokee and Will Rogers will host a live concert Sunday, July 9. The “We Invented Thunder Tour” featuring The Burning Room and A Fragile Shade from Portland, Ore. Local bands performing are Shades of Grey and Fraysion the Minotaur. Cost is $5 and the show starts at 7 p.m. The shop will be closed throughout the day, but doors will open at 6 p.m.



Inter-tribal Indian Association activities

Members of the Intertribal Indian Association are seeking participants to organize: a local drum group, sweat lodge, language (preservation) classes, rides to pow-wows and stomp dances in the Claremore and surrounding areas. More information, call 341-7481.



CASA kids need help with summer programs

Tri-County CASA needs your help this summer. Several area foster children wish to participate in extracurricular activities such as football, cheerleading, soccer, and other activities, but cannot participate due to limited financial resources. If you can help fund all or a part of a child’s summer activities, call Angela Henderson, CASA Program Director at 343-1515.



V.F.W. and American Legion host bingo

The V.F.W. and American Legion Posts host bingo throughout the week. Times are 7:30 p.m. Mondays at the American Legion and 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the V.F.W. Money raised is used for veterans projects and community programs.



Meals on Wheels needs volunteers

Meals on Wheels is in need of volunteers to cook and deliver meals. Meals are prepared at the MOW building on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. To volunteer for cooking would require about four hours a month, one day a month. Driving will be for one day a week, and depending on the length of the route, should take less than an hour.

‘Animal Friendly’ license plates available
