According to the report of OHP Trooper Brian Gage, 21-year-old Lilly Sanchez was eastbound in her 1988 Chevrolet pickup Saturday afternoon on Old State Highway 33, half a mile south of Chouteau.

For an unknown reason, Sanchez’s vehicle went off the roadway, through a fence, a field, and another fence, before coming back onto Old State Highway 33, Gage’s report said.

Sanchez continued eastbound towards the Old SH33 and US69 intersection, where she continued southbound, running off the west side of the roadway, before striking an embankment and coming to a rest. She was pinned in her vehicle for ten minutes before she was extricated by the Chouteau Fire Department with the Jaws of Life. She was then transported by Air-Evac to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, where she was admitted in good condition with trunk internal and leg injuries. Sanchez was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, Gage’s report stated.
