Future visitors to the Will Rogers Memorial in Claremore may look at memorabilia in the “Joe and Michelle Lefebvre-Carter” wing.

At last week’s meeting of the Will Rogers Memorial Commission, a three-person subcommittee of Commission members was appointed to look into the feasibility of naming a wing or exhibit after former Memorial directors Joe and Michelle Lefebvre-Carter.

Commission member Paul Johnson introduced the idea to commission members after the council was presented with a reproduction with a plaque to be hung in the Museum, honoring Lefebvre-Carter.

“The plaque is very nice, but I certainly feel that more can be done to recognize the invaluable contributions Michelle — and Joe — made to the Memorial during their time here,” Johnson said. “Perhaps an exhibit or wing of the Museum could be named in honor of them, for example.”

Commission members unanimously approved the appointment of the subcommittee.

Michelle Lefebvre-Carter served as director of the Will Rogers Memorial from 1999 to 2006, following husband Joe, who served in the same position from 1989 to 1999.
