A Pryor woman is dead after a fatality accident Wednesday on Rogers County roads.

According to the report of OHP Trooper Scott Bickel, William Rutherford, 22, of Salina was eastbound on his 1999 Honda motorcycle on State Highway 20, five miles west of Claremore at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Riding with Rutherford was 32-year-old Jolynn Moore of Pryor.

At the same time, another vehicle, a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria driven by 87-year-old Helen Melot of Owasso, was southbound on a county road.

When both vehicles approached an intersection, Melot failed to yield for a stop sign and pulled into the path of Rutherford’s motorcycle, Trooper Bickel’s report said.

The motorcycle then struck the side of the Ford in the passenger side, and Rutherford and Moore both were ejected more than 30 feet from their vehicle.

Rutherford and Moore were transported by air ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

Rutherford was admitted in serious condition with head and trunk internal injuries.

Moore was pronounced dead on arrival with massive injuries.

Melot was taken by Pafford Ambulance to St. Francis Hospital and admitted in stable condition with head injuries.
