Mayor Brant Shallenburger has been named a member of the Oklahoma Conference of Mayors (OCOM).

OCOM members are committed to working through the conference to improve their own communities as well as the conditions facing cities and towns throughout the state and nation.

OCOM President Elzie Smith, Mayor of Pawnee, congratulated all Oklahoma mayors. “Our municipal leaders have the understanding of the heartbeat of their communities and are expected to keep themselves updated with the issues within their communities.

“However, more and more they are expected to also stay in touch with the issues at the state level and how those decisions will affect their citizens,” Smith said.

The Oklahoma Conference of Mayors was formed in 1991 as a bipartisan organization to represent the concerns and views of the body of state’s mayors.

OCOM is a vehicle of the development and implementation of programs of multi-jurisdictional cooperation between cities and towns designed to lessen the burden on local government.
