RoCo Fit has scheduled a free and open to the public Halloween-themed run/walk next week in Claremore.

Monster Mash Dash 5k or 1-mile Fun Run/Walk is slated for Thursday, Oct. 26 at Claremore Lake Park.

“All ages and fitness levels are welcome to participate,” said Renetta Threat Harrison, Rogers County Health Department. “Comfortable costumes that allow walking or running safely are encouraged, but optional.”

This event will marks the end of the RoCo Fit's 2017 fall session.

“We hope to get people to participate, celebrate and cheer everyone as they make their goal of a 5k and becoming healthier,” she said.

The start/finish line is at the first table near park entrance.

A group photo will be taken at 5:30 p.m. followed by the start of the one mile fun run, along with staggered starts for our couch to 5k groups with final start at 6 p.m. for 5k.

“We will have a clock running, but no registration or official timing for this event, just lots of healthy fun,” she said.

This is the goal event and first time that many of the Couch to 5k program participants have finished 3.1 miles in a race.

“They have prepared these past weeks and persevered through challenges improving their health each step,” Harrison said. “The mentors are excited to walk and run beside their group participants and encourage them across the finish line marking a milestone and creating an unforgettable memory with them.”

RoCo Fit sponsors and supporters for this event include RoCo Fit volunteer mentors, Rogers County Health Department, Healthy Community Partnership/Volunteers for Youth/TSET Healthy Living Program, and the City of Claremore.
