Music on Main fundraiser ends Friday

The final notes of the Music on Main fundraiser will be played this week as the crowdfunding campaign to set downtown Claremore to music draws to a close.

Last November, Claremore Main Street lunched the Music on Main fundraising campaign to raise funds to purchase and install speakers downtown to play music during business hours.

Donations will be accepted through the St. Paddy’s Day Party on Friday, March 16 at Claremore Main Street offices, online at, or in one of any of the Music on Main donations jars in downtown merchant’s stores.

Donation jars may be found in The Burlap Closet, The Cozy Cottage, The Cranberry Merchant, The District on Main, The Farmhaus, Outwest Home Decor, Rhapsody Boutique & Spa, Sailor Antiques, and Willow Tree Mall.

“We’ve been so pleased with the outpouring of support from the citizens, community, local businesses and corporate sponsors,” said Jessica Jackson, Claremore Main Street executive director. “I can’t wait for the last few donations come in — it’s been such a thrill to see everyone coming together to do something small to improve downtown.”

Claremore Main Street is requesting donations of $25 from 100 people before the deadline.

During this last week of fundraising, RCB Bank will be doubling donations in the final week.

“If we can reach our goal by our deadline this week, we should be able to get the speakers ordered and in place to play Christmas music during the upcoming holidays,” Jackson said. “We would hope to have them in even sooner, so downtown visitors can hear the bands up and down the streets during this season’s Food Truck Thursday events.”

In addition to RCB Bank, corporate sponsors also include the Downtown Claremore Merchant Association, The District on Main, Claremore MoH (Museum of History) and GRDA.

“We wanted to get the entire community to be involved in this project— that way, each Claremore citizen feels an investment, an ownership in the improvement,” she said. “Basically, a $25 donation supports one week of music downtown.”

Once the Music on Main project has been funded and the speakers purchased, music will play along speakers on existing light poles up and down the three blocks of downtown Claremore during regular business hours and events.

Music, which will be at a low volume so as not to disturb conversations or those living downtown, will be a variety of clean, radio-edits of songs, including but not limited to classic rock, adult contemporary, new hits and other popular genres.

Music also can be themed during the holidays or during Claremore events.
