CLAREMORE — Citizens can expect to receive tax statements early this year. On Monday, Oct. 30, the Rogers County Treasurer’s office mailed out the 2017 tax statements.
Statements should arrive as early as Tuesday or Wednesday this week.
In past years, tax statements were mailed out at the end of November or first of December.
Jason Carini said, “It took team work from several county departments to make it possible to send out tax statements early. This year, not only did the county complete its budget early, but several other entities completed their budgets early as well. Due to great working relations, everyone benefits, especially the taxpayer.”
Records going back to 2001 show that this is the first time for tax statements to be mailed out in October.
“We are very excited to get the statements out early. This allows us to collect and apportion money earlier to schools, fire districts, the county, and other entities. Plus, taxpayers now have more time before Dec. 31 to pay their tax bill,” Carini said.
A drop box has been installed in the courthouse parking lot giving citizens an opportunity to pay after hours. For the second year in a row the Treasurer’s office will host mobile payment sites. The office will be accepting payments at the following locations and dates from 9 a.m. until noon:
• Chelsea- Dec. 4, city hall
• Inola- Dec. 5, city hall
• Oologah- Dec. 6, Chamber of Commerce
• Catoosa- Dec. 11, city hall
• Owasso- Dec. 12, Freedom Baptist Church
