Sequoyah native, RSU student receives AFR scholarship

OKLAHOMA CITY- Cassidy Bronson, Sequoyah, was announced as a recipient of the 2018 American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) Continuing Education State Scholarship. Bronson will be a sophomore at Rogers State College.

“As an organization, we are committed to the future of the agricultural industry in Oklahoma,” said Micaela Danker, AFR/OFU youth development coordinator. “We are proud to provide not only opportunities for growth and personal development, but also financial support for tomorrow's industry leaders.”

Scholarship recipients are selected based on their involvement, leadership activities and scholastic achievement. To be eligible for either scholarship, applicants must have attended a minimum of two years of the Senior Leadership Summit, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 and must be an AFR Insurance policyholder.

AFR provides the youth of Oklahoma many opportunities to develop into the leaders of tomorrow. In addition to the state scholarship program, AFR hosts speech contests, a summer youth leadership summit, county/local match scholarships, livestock handling and skills contests as well as livestock judging and grading contests.

“We have many outstanding students in Oklahoma and we want to do everything possible to help them achieve their dreams,” said Danker.

The annual state scholarships are available to qualified students in all 77 Oklahoma counties. Students are eligible to apply for the Incoming Freshman State Scholarship during their senior year of high school or for the Continuing Education State Scholarship throughout their undergraduate career.

Scholarship recipients are announced in May of each year and are recognized the following February during the annual AFR State Convention. For more information on scholarship opportunities or other youth programs, contact AFR/OFU Youth Development Coordinator, Micaela Danker, at (405) 218-5561 or
