Two Claremore city council candidate forums are slated to happen beginning Tuesday to give voters a chance to hear responses to questions fielded by local moderators.

Claremore Collective will host its candidate forum at 6:30 p.m. on March 21 at the Will Rogers Museum auditorium with moderator John Ray.

The Claremore Chamber of Commerce will host its candidate forum at 6:30 on March 28 at the Claremore Community Center moderated by Dr. Jeff Gentry, Rogers State University communications professor.

These forums lead up to the April 4 election for various city council seats.

City council candidates who have scheduled appearances for the March 21 forum along with the seats they are seeking are: Will DeMier - Ward 4; Ken Hays - Ward 3; Mickey Keely - Ward 2; Bryan McDonald - Ward 4; Justin Michael - Ward 2; Don Purkey - Ward 2; and Shelly Taylor - Ward 3. Not currently scheduled are candidates Pam Ziriax - Ward 3 and Frank Church - Ward 4.

During that forum, Claremore Collective’s government relations crew will share a quick introduction on voting and election information. After that, the candidates will be given the opportunity to give a brief introduction, their desire to serve and things they hope to achieve if elected. This will be followed by a facilitated question and answer session.

Another chance to hear responses from city council candidates will be at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, as the Claremore Chamber of Commerce first announced it would be hosting their inaugural event at the Claremore Community Center.

Candidates for that forum who scheduled an appearance are DeMier, Church, Hays, Keely, McDonald, Purkey, Michael and Taylor. Not scheduled for the appearance is Ziriax.

Both forums are provided for voter information and education purposes only and are not endorsements of any of the individual candidates, their views or any political party affiliation.

The Will Rogers Memorial Museum is located at 1720 West Will Rogers Boulevard and the Claremore Community Center is located at 2301 N. Sioux Street in Claremore.

The Chamber of Commerce Candidate forum is presented with cooperation of the Claremore Daily Progress, its media partner.
