Janis “Jan” Maddox, Ponca City resident, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 9, 2008, at Ponca City Medical Center. She was 59.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the First Baptist Church, under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home. A memorial book will be available at Trout for friends to sign.
Janis Earlene Maddox, the daughter of Hollis E. and Shirley M. (Williams) Windle, was born on Aug. 19, 1948, in Claremore. Jan grew up in Claremore and graduated from Claremore High School in 1966. After graduation she continued her education at Tulsa Cosmetology School.
On March 27, 1987, Jan married John Maddox in Miami. They lived in Wynona for a few years before moving to Ponca City in 1989.
This year would be the 20th year for Jan to work in the Ponca City High School office, which she greatly loved. Her passion was working with the kids and she loved going to work everyday. She also loved to read, play games on the computer and spend time with her grandchildren. Jan is greatly loved and will be missed in the lives of many.
Family members include her husband John of the home; her mother, Shirley Windle of Claremore; two daughters, Holli McCarty of Ponca City and Jill Brown of Tulsa; step-daughter, Angela Marie Maddox Baker of Fayetteville, Ark.; step-son, Clint Eric Maddox of Kansas City, USMC; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Jeannene E. Elliott and two brothers, L. Andrew Windle and Len Windle, all of Claremore.
Jan was preceded in death by her father Hollis E. Windle and one brother, Keith Windle.
