Leonard Leroy “Len” Windle Jr.

CLAREMORE — Services celebrating the life of Leonard Leroy “Len” Windle Jr. will be1 p.m., Wednesday Jan. 8, 2014 at Chelsea High School Gymnasium, burial will follow at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami, Okla.

Len passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014. He was 59.

Born Dec. 21, 1954 in Miami, Okla. to Leonard Leroy and Carol (Manley) Windle, Len was reared and educated in his birth community.  

Following his graduation from Miami, he continued his education by attending NEO.  During this time Len married his high school sweetheart, Karen Marie Weber.

They moved to Stillwater and Len finished his college degree there.  Len coached in several areas including Velma-Alma, Konawa, Lexington, and Pryor and finished his coaching career as head coach of the Chelsea Dragons.

Len was devoted to those young people he coached throughout the years and he enjoyed every minute of it. He taught himself to play the guitar and joined his church’s praise and worship team. He also took up painting and became quite the artist.  

Len was looking forward to becoming a grandfather, anticipating the arrival of his grandson.  

 Those family members that survive include his wife Karen of their home in Chelsea; his children Josh Windle and wife Laura of Tahlequah and Jessica Barlow and husband Dustin of Sallisaw; his parents Leonard and Carol Windle of Grove; his sisters Cathy Taylor and husband Denny of Miami and Diane Warford of Pryor; his sister-in-law Diane Weston and husband Rocky also of Tahlequah and many nieces and nephews and close friends.  

Memorial contributions may be made in Len’s name to Chelsea Memorial United Methodist Church, 441 W. 6th Street, Chelsea, Oklahoma 74016.

Pallbearers will be Roy Rollins, Rob Rollins, Ron Rollins, Wayne Allen, Kelsey Wells, Angela Nowlin, Amber Holinsworth, and Maegan Gardner; and honorary pallbearer will be Rev. Joey Bentley. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 1-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.

    Mildred Warden was the mother of three and surrogate mother to hundreds.
    She operated one of Claremore’s first daycare for children. She died Friday, July 11, 2014 at the age of 86.

     Services celebrating the life of Johnny Lee Fivecoats will be 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Memorial Heights Baptist Church, Claremore.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 1-8pm on Tuesday, July 15, with family receiving visitors from 6-8 p.m.
