Delma Faye Ault

CLAREMORE — A celebration of the life of Delma Faye Ault will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at First United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday at the funeral home from 1-7 p.m. with family receiving visitors from 5-7 p.m.

Delma passed away on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014. She was 89.

Born on December 31, 1924 in Butler, Mo. to Frank and Anna (Miller) Koreman, Delma graduated from Ballard High School in Missouri.  Delma, in true “Rosie the Riveter” fashion, worked for Trans World Airlines as a piston ring inspector during World War II.  She said it was the easiest work she ever did for the wage.  Delma later attended Cosmetology school and worked at various beauty shops.

On a fun and fortuitous outing to an amusement park, Delma met the love of her life, Bob, on a bumper car ride.

On October 6, 1946 Delma married Bob Ault in a ceremony in Kansas City, Mo.

Their union was blessed with 3 children.  When the children came, Delma’s priority was taking care of her family.   Another important part of Delma’s life was her church family.

A Methodist her entire life, she was very involved with all facets of the women’s groups at First United Methodist in Claremore.  She attended a quilting group at church every Tuesday morning for the last 25 years.

Growing up during the Great Depression, Delma was a frugal person who made use of what she had. One of her children said, if she could, she would wash and reuse aluminum foil. Delma loved to fish and always had a boat to take out on her fishing excursions.  She was also a talented quilter and seamstress, fashioning clothing for loved ones and creating many treasured keepsakes.

This loving mother and grandmother will be missed by all who knew her.  Delma is survived by her children Linda Gilpin and husband David, Joseph Ault and wife Lesley, Jeff Ault and wife Laurie; grandchildren Denise Tanner and husband Rob, Julie Cherry, David Jason Gilpin and wife Sarah, Chris Ault, David Ault and wife Erika, Bob Ault and wife Lindsey; great grandchildren Kourtney Tanner, Denver, Colton and Brooks Gilpin, Emma Cherry, Joseph, Makayla and Everett Ault. Delma was preceded in death by Bob, her husband of 60 years, her parents and her sister and brother-in-law Louise and Fay Jenkins.

In lieu of flowers or other condolences, please consider sending a donation in Delma Ault’s name to Claremore FUMC Endowment Fund at 1615 N. Hwy 88, Claremore, OK 74017.
