CLAREMORE —

Donald Jay Lewis passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013. His faithful dog, Lucy, was at his side. 
Don was born on Nov. 4, 1927 near Bartlesville, to Thomas Ross and Mabel Rebecca Lewis. He was a telephone supervisor for Southwestern Bell where he worked for 38 years. For many years he served as a Boy Scout leader and was a volunteer with the Tiawah Fire Department. Don loved people and dogs, hunting, fishing and just being outdoors. He planted a garden every year and gave most of it away. Always kind, he helped everyone who had a need.
He married Neva Knight on May 25, 1973. They were active members of Willieo Baptist Church in Claremore. They were happily married for 34 years until her death. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his parents, brothers Ross, Frank and Walter, and daughter Sonja Cable. 
He is survived by brother Ray and his wife Pat, daughters Arleta and husband Delbert O’Neal, Donna and husband William Beasley, grandchildren Linda Harrelson, Laurie Wilkens, Brad Beasley, Brenda Rackleff, Barry Beasley, Chris Cable, Curtis Cable, and many great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Floral Haven. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 4, at 10:00 at Floral Haven Chapel, 6500 S. 129th S. Ave., Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tiawah Fire Department or Willieo Baptist Church.
