Greg Pike

CLAREMORE — A celebration of the life of Greg Pike will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service.

Greg passed away on Jan. 1, 2014. He was 62.

Born on May 10, 1951 in Ashland, Kan. to Merle and Ruth Pike, Greg grew up in his birth community and graduated from Ashland High School in 1969. Furthering his education, he studied Architecture at Liberal Area Vo-tech in Liberal, KS. While in Liberal he met his future wife, Karen. In 1978 Greg and Karen were married and settled in Claremore where they raised 3 children.

Greg owned and operated the Outdoorsman store which later grew to incorporate an indoor range as well as an outdoor 3D bow range. Owning his own business in the archery field enabled him to travel the country participating in numerous archery tournaments and hunting expeditions.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Greg passed down his love of hunting and fishing to his 14 grandchildren. He also taught them to love and appreciate the outdoors.  After his retirement in 2010, Greg was able to pursue his life-long plan of designing and building his and Karen’s dream home.

This loving husband, father and grandfather will be missed by all who knew him. Greg is survived by his wife Karen of the home; children Jennifer Townsend and husband TD of Castle Rock, Colo., Kirsten Barksdale and husband Steve of Tulsa, and CD Pike of Tulsa; Siblings Kay Rich, Karen Hoddy and Max Waugh; 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Greg is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Bob & Jennie Whitford, in-laws Daniel and Marie Roberts, sister Cinda Ruth Pike, nephew David Hoddy, granddaughter Brook Townsend and great granddaughters Peyton Barksdale and Audrinna Pike.

    She is the daughter of Fred and Ida Cook Birchmeier. She spent her early life traveling, as her dad worked on the pipeline construction projects. She was in the 4th grade when her family bought a farm in Emporia, Kan.

    A celebration of the life of Kenneth Wayne DeLozier, Sr., will be 10 a.m., Wed., April 16, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Chelsea. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Visitation will be Monday from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

    A mass of Christian burial for Marion “Buddy” Robertson, Sr. will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Father Paul Eichoff officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.  Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 with a wake and prayer vigil at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service.   Family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the prayer service.
