Jean D. (Spurlock) Shoemaker

CLAREMORE — Funeral Services for Jean D. Shoemaker have been scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 at Inola United Methodist Church in Inola, Okla. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Inola, under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.

Jean Darline Shoemaker was born March 18, 1931 on the family farm, near Inola, Okla., the daughter of Charles G. and Ethel (Nees) Spurlock. She died Monday, September 2, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 82 years of age.

The former Miss Jean Spurlock was a 1948 graduate of Inola High School. She married Bill Ed Shoemaker on November 27, 1954 in Inola at the First Baptist Church of Inola. She began as a typist for Tide Water Oil Company. She was promoted throughout her career and handled the Royalty Funds. She loved to play golf and bridge. She is survived by: husband, Bill Shoemaker, Broken Arrow; daughter, Nelda and husband Michael Shepherd, Inola; son, James Shoemaker, Tulsa; grandchildren,  Kelly E. and husband Jason Mosier of Owasso, William D. Armstrong, III of Broken Arrow, and  Shannon Armstrong of Tulsa; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Colton, Savannah, Keghan, and Khloe; sister, Jane and husband Clarence Green of Inola; brothers,    Jerry and wife Mona Spurlock of Broken Arrow; Tom and wife Carolyn Spurlock of Collinsville; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
