LuAnn Quinn

CLAREMORE — A memorial service celebrating the life of LuAnn Quinn will be 4 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. LuAnn passed away Monday, May 26, 2014. She was 68.

Born in Stroud, Okla. on Aug. 17, 1945 to James and Bessie (Heitt) Gerdes, LuAnn was raised and educated in Milfay, Okla. LuAnn’s career as CNA at Claremore Regional Hospital lasted for over 20 years. In later life she went back to school to receive her certificate as a Phlebotomist because of her love of caring for people.

In 1961 LuAnn married Joe Quinn and their union was gifted with six children. Loving her new-found role as wife and mother her children still remember some of the favorite dishes she would prepare for them, such as fried potatoes and beans, macaroni and tomato sauce.

Christmas was always special at the Quinn home, not only because LuAnn made it special for her family but she also met the needs of many others not only during the holiday season and throughout the year as well.

In later life LuAnn was employed at the Claremore Wal-Mart for over 15 years where she made many life-long friends in the lawn and garden department. When time allowed LuAnn enjoyed many other interests, travel being one, which many times would take her to her favorite destination, the beach of Edisto, South Carolina. Gardening kept LuAnn busy as she tended to both her flower and vegetable gardens. Shopping was also high on her list, whether it be looking for that special pair of shoes she could not live without or a replacement pair of her favorite white jeans that were mistakenly discarded. She also had a passion for the casino; family would say it was perhaps one of her greatest pleasures.

This loving mother, grandmother and sister will be missed by all whose lives she touched. LuAnn is survived by her children Debra McCombs and husband Marty, Donna Tiblow and husband Melvin, Rodney Quinn and wife Kelli, David Quinn, Dale Quinn, Angela Waggoner and husband Troy; twelve grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother James Fairbanks and wife Debbie; sister Belinda Scoggins; brother Tommy Quinn; numerous nieces and nephews; and significant other, Keith Knupp.  LuAnn was preceded in death by her parents and brother Roy Fairbanks.
