A memorial service honoring the life of Evelyn Delora McCall will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012, at First Christian Church of Claremore. Her pastor, Rev. Charles Ragland will officiate. Evelyn passed away Friday, March 16, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 76 years of age.
Born in Tulsa on March 6, 1936, to Wesley and Elsie (Thompson) Renfro, Evelyn grew up and received her education in Tulsa, graduating from Holy Family High School, Class of 1954. She married Ronnie Dixon, attended Tulsa Business School, worked at Froug’s Dept. Store and as a secretary for a local attorney before moving to California in the late ‘50’s. Evelyn returned to Tulsa in the early 1960’s, met and married Ludwig Schermer, liturgical artist, before moving to Houston to run a lucrative stain glass business. Evelyn returned to Tulsa in the late 1970’s to meet her soul mate, John (Joe) McCall. Her employment was primarily in retail sales until she began her career with Clear Creek Properties as an apartment manager at various locations.
Hobbies included fishing, camping and boating—anything that would take her outdoors. She enjoyed traveling but also loved being at home, spending time with her children and precious grand and great grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, John, of their Claremore home; her children Phillip Schermer of Owasso, Debbie Schermer of Claremore, Idette Kaufman of San Mateo, Calif., Kelli McCall of Owasso, Karen Searcy of Chouteau, and Shannon White of Talala; 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
