CLAREMORE — Burl William Moore, Jr., 67 year-old Vinita resident passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 at his home in Vinita.

Burl was born April 18, 1946 to Burl William and Coba Melba Moore in Keota, Okla.

After growing up in Stigler, he received his education at East Central University in Ada, Okla., and NSU in Tahlequah, earning his Masters Degree in Education.

He was a teacher for 46 years, a school administrator for 30 years, as well as coaching track for many years. He was an administrator at Claremore Sequoyah School for 18 years; Miami school administrator for eight years, taught for eight years in the Siloam Springs, Ark., school system, and was currently teaching in Vinita.

He officiated track meets for 20 years. He loved OU Football, enjoyed his granddaughter and John Deer lawn tractor.

He married Barbara Livingston on Sept. 14, 1973.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Vinita.

Survivors include: his wife Barbara of the home; two sons, Burl W. Moore, III, and wife Audra of Parsons, Kans., Jonathon Moore of Norman, Okla.; granddaughter, Ayla Moore of Parsons, Kan.; one niece, and one nephew and numerous friends.

He was preceded by his parents, and one sister, Melba Milligan.

Memorial services will be held at Trinity Baptist Church on Friday Aug. 9, 2013 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Will Busch officiating.

Services are under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home.
