Terry F. Tandy

CLAREMORE — A celebration of the life of Terry F. Tandy will be 1 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at Rehoboth Baptist Church.

Terry passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014. He was 75.

Our Terry (Mr. Lovely) as he preferred to be called. He felt he was lovely whether he was on earth or in Heaven. Terry was the kind of man that every mother hopes her daughter will marry (loving, thoughtful and smart). He was all of these.

He was born Dec. 25, 1938 at the St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa. Right from the start, the nuns thought he was special because he was born on Christmas day. They bought him red booties and a red hat. Indeed he was special. He graduated from Central High School and then put himself through college at Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science Mechanical Engineer. He enjoyed challenges and also went on to become a aircraft pilot, a land developer and builder. Later in his life he become a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He was especially proud to serve his church and God in that way.

In 1959 he met and married Sue Bell from McAlester, Okla. It was a marriage made in Heaven because Sue had been praying for 3 years that she would meet someone like Terry. God Granted that prayer. They were soul mates and truly loved each other. They were married 54 years and had 3 great children, Scott, Cheryl and Shan and he also shared a special bond with Timothy Tandy (1 of 9 grandchildren) who devoted his time taking care of his grandfather the last years of his life.

Terry's job took him to many places. Starting his career at Ozark Mahoney in Tulsa, OK in 1960 then on to Nipac Chemical (John Deere Co) in Pryor, OK then Arkla Chemical in Arkansas, Dow Chemical in Freeport Texas and then moving on to Triad Chemical in Louisiana, ending his career with (Agrico, AMC and Terra Chemical) in Verdigris, Okla., retiring in 2007. Terry especially like working for ammonia (fertilizer) companies because in the 1920's his grandfather came from Wisconsin to build Ozark Mahoney in Tulsa, Okla.

On a final note the whole time Terry was sick he was in a lot of pain but he never complained. He took it like a trooper. He used to say he could repair or fix anything but a broken heart and he worked hard to do just that. We will miss him forever and all the love he gave to us.
