A celebration of the life of Charles Gene Cole will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Verdigris.  Visitation will be Sunday from 1-5 at the funeral home.  Gene passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013.  He was 85.  
Born on October 30, 1927 in Fort Gibson to Orian and Diccia (Bryan) Cole, Gene was one of seven children.   He graduated from Vian High School in 1946 and joined the U.S. Army in December of 1948.
On March 20, 1949 Gene married Annette Pesterfield and their union was blessed with four children.  
After 41 years of employment for Katy Railroad, Gene retired and began volunteering with Oklahoma Baptist Builders and helped to build over 150 churches worldwide.  Ordained in the summer of 1952, Gene was a long-time Deacon serving for 61 years.   
This loving husband, father and grandfather will be missed by all whose lives he touched.  
Gene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Annette; his children Don Cole and wife Sharon, Randy Cole and wife Carman Cole, Beth Cole Poole and husband Charley; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren with two more on the way; brothers Bill Cole and wife Melva, Norman Cole and wife Phyllis.  
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Ann Cole, three brothers and one sister.
